Truths That Set Us Free:
Traditional Buddhist Teachings and Meditations for Freedom and Fulfillment
First and Third Tuesdays
January 21 - May 6, 2025
7:00pm-8:30pm
The first teaching of the Buddha is that our suffering comes not primarily from external circumstances, but rather is due to our mistaken assumptions about permanence, self and the counterproductive habits of desire and hatred that result. We will see how these interconnected principles are key to the four noble truths, four thoughts that turn us away from samsara, and most centrally, to our identity of ourselves and buddha nature.
Some traditional concepts we will teach in this course include:
Untimately, we will connect everything to Dzogchen, the great completeness and peak of the spiritual paths in our tradition. If you are new to Buddhism, this is a great introduction to many topics in a way that can be applied to practical life.
